Lab Session:
The course provides an introduction to statistical concepts and techniques with application in business. Topics include graphical and tabular presentation of data, measure of center tendency and dispersion, introduction to probability, random variables, discrete and continuous distributions and sampling distribution (prerequisite qmis 110).
- 1. organize, summarize, and interpret data in tabular, graphical, and pictorial formats.
- 2. understand concepts of primary and secondary data, classification of data, measures of central tendency (arithmetic mean, median, mode, geometric mean and harmonic mean) with simple applications, absolute and relative measures of dispersion (range, quartile deviation, mean deviation, standard deviation and variance) with simple applications.
- 3. understand how to analyze and interpret data.
- 4. understand the basic rules of probability.
- 5. use the normal distribution as a model for continuous variables.
